the coastline of this beach you’ll find various sorts of establishments
and facilities that cater to guests' needs who come to enjoy the beach and the
Basdaku Beach is its popular name. The name is the Cebuano (Visayan language) transliteration for the word ‘big sand’ (bas for sand, daku for big or wide). I think it is somehow a poetic name coined to describe this long stretch of amazing white beach.
already described above, Basdaku is a long stretch of white sand beach.
Actually, it is the whole province of Cebu that has white sand beaches
since the whole island (including its more than a hundred satellite
islands) itself is made up of coralline deposits.
Okay, going back to our point… the beach.
is not only a white sand beach but, of course, it has crystal clear
pristine water. The beach is very much available to the public for most
activities allowed by the management that watches over and maintains its
Small Local Restaurants
These restaurants are locally called ‘karenderya’. Its in the karenderyas where you can enjoy local dishes cooked from freshly caught sea foods. They also offer meat dishes – pork, beef, goat. The price is usually much cheaper compared to bigger restaurants. Karenderyas are very simple and provide basic space for eating with tables and chairs. Usually they have full and open views of the surrounding!
Accommodation or Tent
Basdaku Beach Resort offers various sorts of affordable accommodation rates. Basically, the standard room rate is PhP1,500 while the family room is about PhP2000/night. But these rates could vary depending on the establishment’s proximity to the beach, their facilities, among other amenities you prefer.
If you are more of a cowboy, scout or adventurous type, you can bring with you a tent and pitch it on the area where it is allowed.
Preparing Your Meals
Since this is a public beach, you are allowed to bring in your own food supplies. And the good thing is that they even allow you to cook your food, that is, if you bother to carry heavy loads to this area (which mostly wouldn’t want to do!).
And, the good news is that they have grilling and cooking equipment available for rent, if you wish. You can easily buy fresh sea foods or any from the market nearby Basdaku Beach. Just take a motorcycle for a 25-peso ride.
Just keep the surrounding always clean after cooking.
Renting Adventure Facilities
In order to enjoy sea water activities, the place offers boat rentals (outrigger boats), scuba diving gears, snorkeling gears, kayaks, volleyballs, surf fishing, kite surfing, and more.
Since Basdaku is great for diving due to its colorful and diver marine life, you can find lots of dive centers being managed by both foreign and local operators. Scuba diving business is one of the most lucrative businesses you can observed in this tropical province with great waters.
Dive Centers and Accommodations
Basdaku, as you might have already learned, has a lot of PADI dive centers that offer diving courses from basic to expert diving course.
These dive centers are booming in this area (and other islands, such as: Malapascua Island, Bantayan Island, Mactan Island, and Camotes Islands) particularly because Basdaku (in Moalboal) is conveniently situated where the best diving sites are found.
Most dive centers offer basic dive courses, PADI open water course, Instructor course, free diving, etc. Their courses are internationally approved and as you finish your lessons they reward you a certificate for having completed one. At most the longest course takes 4 days to complete, while the basic one is 1 day (with an opportunity to dive into a nice dive spot).
Since this is the beach, you might need to use your own gears such as:
